Alan Smith Midfielder 2012-2014


Alan was born in Rothwell, Leeds, on 28 October 1980
and began his career with Leeds, scoring 38 goals in
172 first team appearances over six years before
moving to Manchester United in 2004 for £7 million,
where he scored seven goals in 61 appearances
despite a long spell recovering from a broken leg.

In August 2007 he was signed by Newcastle in a
£6 million deal, making 84 appearances before being
loaned to MK Dons in January 2012. He signed a
permanent contract with the Dons that August.

He scored his first goal for MK in the 1-0 home win
over Sheffield United in April 2012 in front of 6,500
travelling Blades fans. He also scored in the second
leg play-off at Huddersfield which the Dons won 2-1,
but lost 3-2 on aggregate.

In his two years as a permanent MK Dons player, Smith scored just once. He made 83 appearances in total before leaving in the summer of 2014 to join Notts County as a Player-Coach.

Alan was capped 19 times by England, scoring one goal, between 2001 and 2007 and prior to that played in the England B and Under-21 teams.
