Gary Mackenzie Defender 2010-2013

Gary Mackenzie’s four red cards for the MK Dons before he left in 2013 was, at the time, the joint highest number of sendings-off for any MK Dons player along with Dean Lewington and Izale MacLeod.

Born in Lanark on 15 October 1985, Gary started as a youth player at Rangers, making two appearances in the first team, before joining Dundee on a free transfer in June 2006. He made 93 appearances there before he signed for MK Dons on 14 May 2010.

He scored three goals in 63 appearances for MK – including the winner in a televised 1-0  home victory over Peterborough in March 2012.

The 2012-13 season began badly for 6ft 4in tall MacKenzie when he had to undergo hip surgery, which ruled him out for three months. On 1 March 2013, he signed on an emergency loan for Blackpool until the end of the season. On 5 July 2013, he signed for Blackpool on a permanent deal from MK Dons for an undisclosed fee.

He left in January 2013 to Blackpool, for whom he went on to Captain. His aim was to play for Scotland
